The Character
Name: Alexia “Lexi” Branson
Age/Birthdate: 350 years old – D.O.B unknown
Species: Wanderer
Canon: The Vampire Diaries. Pulled from Season 1 – 162 Candles. After being vervained by the Sheriff, but before being staked.
Pre-existing powers: Lexi is a vampire and comes with all the normal traits that her line of vampires have:
Basic skills: Immortality, super strength, speed, heightened senses, accelerated healing factor - all on the level of a 350 year old vampire.
Lexi also has shown that she has a strong ability to control the minds of others. The skills she has shown in the series are:
Mental Control - the ability to control and manipulate emotions. She has also shown to be able to control physical reactions, like making Stefan feel like he was starving.
Compulsion - the ability to control people, plague people's dreams, and alter/erase human memories.
*Rift Change, if applicable: She is going to be pulling a Ranma ½ - when she is splashed with cold water, Lexi will change into a man. She will remain a man until she is splashed with hot water. It can be any water-based liquid (soda, coffee, tea, soup) to work. Luke-warm/room temperature water does nothing, same with non-water based liquids.

Appearance:
Lexi is 5’8”, with long blonde hair and brown eyes. She is very slim, but has a nice muscular build. She likes to keep herself looking proper with perfect makeup and her hair styled, wearing clothes that are fashionable of the time, but in colors that don’t scream out for attention.
Personality:
Lexi is a fun-loving vampire who is probably Stefan's only vampire friend. She approaches life with a sarcastic sense of humor and just enjoys living her life, not brooding about it. She's friendly, easy going and able to control her emotions and cravings. She doesn't feel the guilt most vampires can from their actions, nor does she really show off to act out her vampire side. She's described as being one of the most well-adjusted vampires in the show.
She drinks human blood - she tried to drink animal blood for about 3 weeks but it didn't stick - but only gets it from blood bags these days. Lexi's accepted who and what she is, and sees humans as being equals to her. She can understand the love between a human and a vampire, having had a human - Lee - as her true love that she eventually turned him with his consent. She believes that in the end, love can conquer all and tells Elena just as much to help ease her worries about loving a vampire.
She does, however, in teaching control to Stefan during his first time as a Ripper, walk him through a tent hospital and ask him about what he feels, and how that he needs to be able to feel the emotions that they had as humans. It shows that Lexi connects her ability to feel - even to feel pain - as something that brings them above being a simple vampire. It gives them the ability to understand and connect to the human world instead of distancing from it.
There isn't a lot of explanation about how Lexi was as a human, or her acceptance of being a vampire. It can be assumed that she was turned around 1680, making her born around 1660. She has watched the world grow from its colonial roots to the modern time, giving her an old soul in knowing how long change can take, and patience in waiting it through. The patience is something that comes in handy in her being BFF’s with Stefan Salvatore.
As for her complicated friends-only relationship with Stefan; when she met Stefan Salvatore, she recognized him as a ripper and made it her own mission to help him get control of himself. She knew it would be better for him to learn the control, and could see that there was something more in the vampire worth bringing it out. Maybe it was just her time as a nurse when she was a human, but she wanted to fix Stefan and make him better.
They are both adamant that their relationship never went beyond friends, and never will. Lexi has her lover now, and when she comes to visit Stefan in the episode 162 Candles, she can see how much Stefan is in love with Elena - even if it's creepy to her about how much Elena looks like Katherine. The time they spent together for over a decade has, however, created a deep friendship that has lasted for almost a century. She probably knows Stefan better than anyone - even Damon. It's when they are together that Stefan has shown that he can feel the most like himself, and even smiles easily. She understands what goes on inside of his head and how to bring him out of his funks and bad days. It's a genuine friendship love for him and his well-being, willing to do anything to help him - even at his own expense.
History:
Event 1: Pulling Stefan back from being a Ripper
When Stefan tries to hunt her and finds his match, Lexi sees something more in the young vampire that calls to her heart as a healer. It is 1864, and Stefan has only been a vampire for a few weeks and scares his older brother, Damon, with the way he embraces being the life and the call of blood. When Stefan brings Lexi home, she decides to stay and help him get ahold of his urges and find control – a promise she affirms to Damon as he takes his leave from the family home.
Lexi is already around 200 years old at this point, and has been spending her time working as a nurse in the new world. She has been working to reconnect herself to the human world, finding a balance and respect between the two species. She’s already gone through her growth period, mourning her loss, watching people she grew up with die with old age. Her life has been spent floating around and taking on Stefan as a charge gave her a purpose and a way for herself to reconnect with the world and perhaps make things a bit better.
By bringing Stefan back to being a “useful member of society”, in a way she helps bring herself back into the same world; by making herself show another how to live reminds her of the reason for living, and that pulls her back from being a faceless nurse in the middle of a world of death. Her words about humanity and control now need to be led by example, and with the dour persona Stefan presents when he doesn’t block off his feelings means that she needs to be happy and playful to keep him from retreating into a shell. She sees the worst of Stefan in these moments, and instead of backing down, she refuses to give up and keeps fighting to save him.
The bond that is forged between the two changes Lexi forever, which is shown through her dedicated visits to him every year on his birthday. It also allows her to know when he has fallen off the rails in 1924 when he relapses into his Ripper behavior again and Lexi takes over a decade trying to help him out of it again and reminding him how to laugh. Stefan is probably the closest person to her - even more than her boyfriend - because of this history and a mental relationship that makes each other know that if nothing else, they can always depend on each other no matter what happens.
Event 2: Lee
After being a vampire for over a few centuries, it isn’t really a surprise that they turn to one another for comfort and friendship. It’s hard to think that you would want to put so much weight of an emotion like love on a creature that, compared to them, are fragile and die quickly. But Lexi, like her BFF Stefan, finds the love of her life 300 years after her own birth in another world… and he’s human.
Lee would be a catalyst to showing that Lexi has grown to a point where she doesn’t look at people for what they are, just who they are. Humans, in her mind, are just as equal in the world as vampires. They aren’t food, they aren’t to be feared… they just are. She finds herself forming bonds with many humans and just enjoying her life as an eternal twenty-something in the modern world.
In loving Lee, however, she goes beyond the equality mindset and allows herself to slide into his world. She knows the risks that come with loving a human, and yet opens up her heart to him. They fell fast, deep, and she even revealed to him what she really was and he accepted her as that.
She also gambles for love when Lee consents to let her change him into a vampire. There is a chance that he would become different, ever a ripper like Stefan, but the love that they share isn’t one they are willing to let die with the human mortality. Lee is a representation to her of the good of the human race, and she does everything she can to make sure he doesn’t lose that as a vampire.
Writing Sample:
It was the fall of 1987, and Lexi had a surprise waiting for Stefan this year. It had taken a long time talking to people in line, trying to play along their minds and see who had those backstage passes that were so rare. True, she could have just compelled the security guards outside of the Garden, but what fun was that?
"Lexi..."
"Shut up, Stefan. We're going to have a little fun tonight. I promise that it won't kill you."
She had left Lee behind with Bree for the weekend, and was dressed in leather and lace to go traipsing around New York City with her best friend who really looked way too pouty in those tight leather pants. Lee, her sweet, sweet Lee; he understood the friendship that Lexi and Stefan shared but only to a point. He was also well aware that while he got her for 364 days a year, for one day she checked up on Stefan and had her fun with him.
"I have the money. We can just buy the tickets."
"But what fun is that, Stefan? I mean, not everyone here really needs to go backstage. It'll be packed. So, two less people, more attention for us."
She walked over, her boot heels making her almost as tall as him for once. "Come on, Stefan. It's just a game. Do you really think I just put you into those leather pants for fun?"
Stefan gave her a confused look, then started to shake his head. "Oh no, come on..."
"The first one to flirt and get their ticket without compulsion gets to buy drinks later." She tapped his chin, and then turned to walk over to a group of guys who were watching her every move. Hearing him sigh, she just looked at her best friend over his shoulder and winked, then added a bit of bounce to her step as the game began.
She did plan on winning, after all. But she would still buy the birthday boy a drink later - just much later.
Note: Since the Vampire Diaries tends to recycle dead characters into flashbacks, there is always the chance for new back story to be inserted. It all takes place in the time period before her canon point in "real time". If/when new back story gets revealed, it will get folded into her memories. If any other powers are revealed in back story, I will ask the mods before assuming she can access them in game.
